School Closings Information
In the event of a school closing for inclement weather or in case of an emergency, the Donovan School District will utilize the One Call Now automated telephone alert system to contact parents via a phone call or text to inform parents of school closings information as soon as possible.
Listen to WGFA radio (94.1 FM), WVLI radio (92.7 FM or 101.7) or WKAN radio (1320 AM) to announce school closings as they occur.
Parents: Please DO NOT call the school for school closings information.
If you are not receiving One Call Now alerts please contact Mrs. Legan at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign-up for the automated alert system.
If you have any questions, please email me!! I will do my best to get you an answer. I am so excited to honor your children's accomplishments, as best as we can, during this pandemic!
8th Grade Virtual Graduation
The Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education released a joint statement with guidelines on Saturday, May 2nd pertaining to graduation ceremonies. The 8th grade graduation we have been planning for weeks follows their Individualized Ceremony at School model.
On Tuesday, May 26th, or Wednesday, May 27th our 8th graders will come into the school and walk across the stage in the gym one at a time to receive their diploma. Mrs. Siedentop will be working with 8th-grade families to schedule a time to come into the gym on May 26th or May 27th. We will take their photo and video as they accept their diplomas. Strict guidelines only allow the 8th-grade graduate and their parents to come into the school.
After May 26th we will start working on creating a video piecing together the 8th-grade virtual graduation ceremony. We hope to release the video on our Facebook page and school website for everyone to view a week or two after May 26th.
If you follow the news you might have seen the positive media coverage by ABC News and NBC News out of Chicago covering Bradley-Bourbonnais Senior Graduation this week. Donovan’s 8th-grade virtual graduation model is identical to theirs.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the school.
Thank you and we look forward to celebrating our 8th-grade graduates!
Mr. Andy Jordan, Ed.S.
Donovan Jr. Sr. High School Principal
