    In the event of a school closing for inclement weather or in case of an emergency, the Donovan School District will utilize the One Call Now automated telephone alert system to contact parents via a phone call or text to inform parents of school closings information as soon as possible. 
    Listen to WGFA radio (94.1 FM), WVLI radio (92.7 FM or 101.7) or WKAN radio (1320 AM) to announce school closings as they occur. 

    Parents: Please DO NOT call the school for school closings information.

Junior High School Daily Announcements

  • HS/JH Weekly Message 8/3/2020.


    Hello, this is your High School/Junior High Principal, Mr. Andy Jordan with your weekly update.

    The student's first day back will be August 20th (students with last names A-L) and August 21st (students with last names M-Z) starting at 8:10 am.  Doors will be opened early at 7:30 am to accommodate parents driving students to school.  Students will receive their Chromebooks on their first day of attendance.  We will be following all state guidelines, therefore anyone on school grounds will have to wear a mask.  Please have your child start practicing wearing their masks for a smooth transition. The school will also be providing all students with masks if they would like one.  The HS/JH staff has been busy at work discussing the various details for reentry. Please refer to the school reentry plan on the school website, www.donovanschools.org/.


    IESA (the Illinois Elementary School Association) has reversed their rulings on JH sports, we now can have normal JH Fall sports seasons as long as we adhere to the state guidelines. Parents should have received an 8to18 message.  JH softball and baseball will start this week.   Please contact JH athletic director Kim Onnen for more information.


    IHSA (Illinois High School Association) has released the guidelines for HS sports. Volleyball and Cheerleading seasons have been moved to the Spring with a start date of Feb 15th. Currently, Golf will be allowed for the fall, but under a variety of restrictions. Basketball, Cheerleading, and Dance are to start Nov 16th. HS Baseball, Softball, and Track will take place starting May 3rd. More information can be found on the IHSA.org website. Please contact HS athletic director Emily Snyder for more information.


    If you would like to opt your child out of in-person learning please email Superintendent Toby Coates by August 11th that you will be participating in the districts full-time remote learning Apex program. Students enrolled in Remote Learning are eligible for extra-curricular activities, but we highly encourage for IHSA eligibility and NCAA qualifications that student-athletes attend in-person learning.


    I would like to thank our parents and families that registered their children during our July 22nd registration day!  It was our first time registering everyone in one day in the old gym thank you for your patience and thanks to Denise, Jennifer, Mandy, Jewel, Chris, and Holly for their help.

    2020-2021 School Calendar Highlights


    The Donovan Community Unit School District will dismiss students every 2nd Wednesday of the month to allow all staff time for district training, staff meetings, and professional development. The Elementary school students will dismiss at 1:22 and the Jr/Sr high school students will dismiss at 1:30 on these days.

    Helpful Navigation Tips

    In an effort to better serve our viewers we have implemented some redundancy thoughout our website. For instance; When you select any Board of Education webpage you will be re-directed to the Board of Education portion of the district website. We have added this feature to ensure that no matter what building site you are visiting you always have access to the district level information you require. Here are some other helful website tips that may come in handy.

    Tip #1: All of our district websites are color coded for ease of identification. 

                1.  Grey & Burgandy=District Level
                2.  Red & White=Elementary School
                3.  Red & White/Black=Junior High School
                4.  Black & Gold/White=High School

    Tip#2When selected, the following menu items will re-direct you back to the district website.
    These sections are part of the redundancy feature of the websites. All menus items and content are       identical on all of the school district websites. About Us, Board of Education, Parents, Public, and Staff

    Tip #3: Use the global icons bar on the right-hand side of each homepage for quick access to: District       Calender, Lunch Menus, Administration & Staff Directory Information, Classrooms, I-NOW Parent Porrtal, Local Weather, One Call Now and Google Classroom.

    Tip #4: You can always use the "Select a School" button at the top of all pages to get to where you want to go within the district.

    Tip #5: You the colorful interactive shortcut buttons to the right side of any homepage for quick access to the most frequently used webpage.
